About the Chop house

Certified Executive Chef Tom Wahlstrom and his wife Elizabeth, of Elizabeth’s Chop House at 113 S Front Street have raised the bar in fine dining in Marquette. Several years ago they dreamed of opening a place of business that would exceed the expectations of their guests. Tom, being a restaurateur all of his life and Elizabeth, educated and trained in specialized customer service and 35 years in the restaurant industry, purchased the old Shamrock Bar property in July of 2007. They rolled up their sleeves and started working on recreating the beautiful space and turning it into a fine dining steak and fresh seafood establishment.

The Chop House design has blended the historical old with the fashionable new with gorgeous leather high back chairs, art deco back bar, beautiful brick walls and finished with a lighting scheme and jazz music that has created an ambience of romantic warmth. Many guests have remarked that it is like having a “fine New York City restaurant in downtown Marquette”. The white linen tablecloths, and fresh flowers are merely a beginning to the detail of exquisite service you receive from the minute your coat is taken at the door, as you sip on the most amazing comso you have ever tasted at the martini bar, while your server presents you with one of 100 wines on the list, taking the first taste of a melt in your mouth bite of one of the finest cuts of prime beef, as you satisfy your craving with one of their daily fresh seafood features of lobster, Alaskan king crab, soft shell crab in season, fresh shucked oysters, escolar, or until you finish a delicious freshly created gourmet dessert and enjoy a cup of Starbucks French pressed coffee. The experience is unlike Marquette has offered it’s city and whether you live a block down the street, or you are coming from the greater Chicago area, the friendly family like staff at Elizabeth’s Chop House will welcome you with the warmth of their smiles, and astound you with their professional service style.
